Eddie Howe’s side have been linked with the forward previously, and could look to bring in former City and Premier League striker Edin Dzeko as well.

In a bid to secure more firepower up top, The Sun reported that the Premier League strugglers are said to be willing to offer Man United £6million to see Martial join them for the remainder of the campaign.

Given the lack of game time he has been given and with other players ahead of him at Old Trafford, both parties could look to strike the deal as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the possibility of a loan could be likely given that many players may not want to join Newcastle permanently given they could well end up in the Championship.

Martial also wants to leave the club, according to his agent and could reignite his career on Tyneside alongside fellow Frenchman Allan Saint-Maximin.

If or when the 26-year-old leaves Old Trafford, Newcastle will have more of a goal threat and according to reports, would not want to end there.

Given his quality, despite his age, and his Premier League experience, manager Eddie Howe also wants to bring in former City striker Dzeko.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker is currently playing his trade with Serie A defending champions Inter Milan and may want to end his career in England having arguably spent the best part of his career there.

Dzeko, 35, spent five seasons with City and was a fan favourite helping the club win its first major trophy in 35 years by the way of the FA Cup in 2011 as well as two league titles in 2011/12 and 2013/14.

Money is of course no issue at Newcastle following their takeover and given that they are in serious threat of relegation, two new faces up front could certainly propel Howe’s side up the table.

The January transfer window cannot come soon enough for the club’s fans who will be eagerly waiting to see which players the new ownership will sign.
