The Premier League is BACK and what a weekend we were treated to.
Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t messing about on his return to the Premier League. You would have been mad to bet against him as he prepared for his second Manchester United debut, and he did what CR7 does best as he capped his return with two goals in a big win over Newcastle.
Chelsea’s returning star Romelu Lukaku took that personally and responded with two goals of his own against Aston Villa in a 3-0 win as the Belgian and the Portuguese look set to rival each other for the Golden Boot.
There was good news for Arsenal, too, who claimed their first points of the season with a 1-0 victory over Norwich, thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half goal.
But there was less positive new for Liverpool, whose 3-0 victory over Leeds at Elland Road was marred by a sickening ankle injury to Harvey Elliott.
There was also an unwanted first for Harry Kane as he failed to have a shot or have a touch in the opposition’s box in Tottenham’s crushing defeat to Crystal Palace.
