  • Crystal Palace step up interest in Leeds and Newcastle target Ismaila Sarr as Watford star sits out latest clash with injury
by Phil Spencer on August 16, 2022 at 11:03 pm

Ismaila Sarr sat out Watford’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham amid speculation builds around his future at the club. The Senegal international has been linked with a move away from Vicarage Road following their relegation from the Premier League last season. Sarr has been a Watford player since 2019GettyAccording to reports from The Athletic, Crystal Palace are hopeful of completing a deal to sign the forward before the end of the month. The Eagles are working on a deal with negotiations having taken place behind the scenes for a number of weeks. Palace’s sporting director, Dougie Freedman, was in attendance at St Andrew’s for the Championship fixture however he never got to see his man in action with Sarr left out as a precaution due to a hamstring injury. As it stands, no agreement has yet been reached with Watford claiming that no offer has been received. Palace are long-term admirers of Sarr having monitored his progress since arriving in England. Since joining Watford, the 25-year-old has scored 25 goals and contributed 19 assists in 95 fixtures. • Ryan Kent is a ‘top player’ and ‘should be in the Premier League’, says Jamie O’Hara, who would have Rangers star at Tottenham
by Jackson Cole on August 16, 2022 at 10:41 pm

Rangers star Ryan Kent should be playing for a Premier League club, believes Jamie O’Hara. The talkSPORT host by the winger’s display during Gers’ Champions League play-off against PSV Eindhoven, which finished 2-2 in an entertaining contest at Ibrox. Kent played the full 90 minutes of the entertaining Ibrox clashGettyAnd O’Hara believes the former Liverpool man can be aiming higher than Rangers, adding he’d have the 25-year-old at Tottenham. “I don’t want to pull him away from Rangers but I really like him, what a player he is,” O’Hara said on The Sports Bar. “I would have him at Spurs. “He should be in the Premier League, he is a top player.” A late goal from Armando Obispo denied Rangers a win in the first leg of their play-off tie, meaning they need a result in the Netherlands to advance to the group stage. And Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst remained upbeat despite his side’s disadvantage going into the second leg on August 24. • Cristiano Ronaldo vows to reveal truth about his situation as he addresses ‘media lies’ over Manchester United future amid fresh Atletico Madrid claims
by Phil Spencer on August 16, 2022 at 10:11 pm

Cristiano Ronaldo says he’ll do an interview in the coming weeks to tell the truth about this summer’s transfer speculation. The Manchester United star has been a mainstay on the back pages in recent months after it emerged that he was looking to leave the club following their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Ronaldo has been the talk of the town over the course of the summerGettyThis led to uncertainty over his situation, including a spell training on his own in Portugal, missing United’s pre-season trip to Australia and then attracting criticism for leaving the club’s pre-season clash with Rayo Vallecano at half-time after being brought off at Old Trafford. Since then the 37-year-old was a second half substitute in Man United’s season opener against Brighton, before starting in the 4-0 hammering against Brentford at the weeekend. While no serious interest has emerged for Ronaldo over the course of the summer, clubs such as Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon and Atletico Madrid have emerged as potential destinations for the forward. In a post on Instagram, it was suggested by journalist Edu Aguirre that Atletico are in fact interested in the player, but a move is unlikely due to the reaction of supporters if their interest is made public. Ronaldo vehemently denied that claim with a frank comment that suggested that he firmly disagrees with the media’s reporting of his situation this summer. Replying to a post on Instagram, Ronaldo’s translated comment said: “You’ll know the truth when I give an interview in a few weeks. Eddie Hearn told talkSPORT in March: “Callum Smith’s waiting for Dmitry Bivol or waiting for Joe Smith. “He’s the mandatory challenger for Artur Beterbiev, so he’s in prime position for that. “And look, if all these titles just freeze up, Callum Smith could fight [Joshua Buatsi] – another great fight domestically. “But my priority for Callum Smith is to get him a shot at the world title.” Callum Smith: “[Bauderlique] is a good fighter, a good boxer and a southpaw,” said Smith respectfully. “He’s got a good boxing brain, a good amateur pedigree and he took bronze at the [2016] Olympics. He’s coming off a good win, [beating Igor Mikhalkin] for the European title, so he’s on good form and his confidence should be high. “It’s a big opportunity for him because he’s one win away from fighting for a world title. I’m expecting a very good version of him. But a very good version of me beats anyone in the world in my opinion, so I’ve got to focus on myself. If the best version of me turns up, then I don’t need to worry about the best version of him.” Offer Of The Day PADDY POWER ALL CUSTOMERS: Bet £5 via the talkSPORT EDGE app with Paddy Power and get a £5 free bet – available to all customers* – CLAIM HERE BETFAIR NEW CUSTOMERS: Bet £10 on 13.50 York on Wednesday, Get £60 in Free Bets* – CLAIM HERE Paddy Power All Customers: Place a £5 Sportsbook Bet through the talkSPORT EDGE app between the 1st and 31st August.
