  • Marcus Rashford told to LEAVE Manchester United amid links to Paris Saint-Germain or risk ‘stagnating’ at Old Trafford like Red Devils teammates Jadon Sancho and Luke Shaw
by Jackson Cole on August 11, 2022 at 10:21 pm

Marcus Rashford has been told to leave boyhood club Manchester United amid links to Paris Saint-Germain. talkSPORT understands the French champions are interested in signing the Red Devils and England forward but are yet to make a formal approach. Rashford burst onto the scene when he made his Man United debut as an 18-year-oldGettyBut he now plays like a player bereft of confidenceGettyIn an already highly eventful transfer window, Rashford leaving behind the club he’s been with since he was seven years old would arguably the most shocking of the lot. But former pro Anton Ferdinand believes Rashford should depart Old Trafford for the sake of his career and his life off the pitch. “I’m going to look at it from a player’s point of view. It’s time for a fresh start. It’s time for new ideas in terms of new surroundings,” Ferdinand told talkSPORT. “It’s been suggested he’s a fan favourite. A fan favourite doesn’t get booed the way he gets booed at times. “I think, especially for him who’s from Manchester and plays for his boyhood club, to get booed by your own fans but be a fan favourite… I think it’s time to go. “It’s time for him to go to another club, live another lifestyle and play with some better players.” Most read in Football transfers Rashford wanted by PSG, Rabiot to Man United in danger, Chelsea swoop for De Jong cryptic Christensen reverts back to Chelsea shirt on Instagram and deletes Barcelona post BLOW 'It gets worse' - Jordan reacts to damning De Jong update as Chelsea battle Man United SHIFT Players once took pay cuts to join Man United, but now the club's 'prestige' has gone run Ronaldo shows his fitness as he appears to beat younger Man United teammates in race decision Arsenal target Aouar receives 'concrete' offer from rival Premier League club mistake Man City warned transfer would hand Liverpool title race edge amid Grealish doubts loud Electric Spurs, hostile Hammers and special Anfield - Bent explains best atmospheres A move to PSG would see Rashford have the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar, as well as Kylian Mbappe, as teammatesGettyAnd if Rashford decides to stay at Man United he runs the risk of letting his career stagnate like some of his teammates, according to Daily Mirror journalist Darren Lewis. “I don’t think it’s a question of whether Man United should sell Rashford, it’s whether Rashford should stay at a club that is stagnating and sucking everyone down with them,” Lewis told talkSPORT. “I look at Jadon Sancho as an example and the outstanding form he showed at Dortmund, the electrifying impact he had and Man United have sucked all of the creativity out of him. “I look at the impact Luke Shaw has in an England shirt surrounded by better players in a team with a plan. I look at the player Raphael Varane was before he arrived at Manchester United. Rashford played all of Man United’s dismal opening weekend defeat to BrightonGettyRashford is hardly the only player to struggle in Man United colours latelyGetty“There are so many players Manchester United are just sucking down. It’s sheer madness to just sit here right now and suggest a player like Marcus Rashford, 24 years of age, is finished and reach the end of the road. “I bet you any money that you will see him, should he take it, go to PSG and become once again the fantastic player we know him to be. “Just like when Romelu Lukaku went to Inter Milan and they played him in a way that got the best out of him.” Offers Of The Weekend Paddy Power Offers ALL CUSTOMERS: Bet £5 via the talkSPORT EDGE app with Paddy Power and get a £5 free bet – available to all customers* – CLAIM HERE NEW CUSTOMERS: Bet £10 on the Premier League, Get £40 in Free Bets* – CLAIM HERE All Customers: Place a £5 Sportsbook Bet through the talkSPORT EDGE app between the 1st and 31st August. • Amir Khan says Oleksandr Usyk has gained 15kg in weight for rematch with Anthony Joshua and warns Ukrainian’s gains won’t slow him down
by Jackson Cole on August 11, 2022 at 8:07 pm

Amir Khan has confirmed the reports that Oleksandr Usyk has put on a whopping 15kg ahead of his rematch with Anthony Joshua. On August 20, the pair lock horns for a second time, live on talkSPORT, with Joshua looking to take back the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles Usyk won off him. Usyk outboxed and almost knocked Joshua out in their first fightMark Robinson/MatchroomAnd Joshua is determined to get his revenge on August 20GettyThe Ukrainian gave the Brit a boxing lesson in London, outwitting his opponent to claim a convincing victory on points in September 2021. Many feel Joshua’s attempts to outbox Usyk were short-sighted and many anticipate the 32-year-old will go hell for leather this time, with Usyk fighting as a heavyweight on just three occasions. Usyk is preparing for a Joshua onslaught in Saudi Arabia with recent images of him showing him cut a much bigger physique. It was reported he’s put on an extra 15kg for the bout and Khan, who joined Usyk in his Dubai training camp, says there’s truth to the reports. “I didn’t know he was a fan of me,” Khan told talkSPORT. “It’s a bit surreal when the heavyweight world champion tells you that. “He told me he’d been following me for a long, long time and I was like ‘really?!’ I’m a lightweight to him.” Most read in Sport rivalry Benn recalls bizarre Eubank Jr reply over Las Vegas trip that sums up differences official Molly McCann next opponent confirmed in big step up in competition at UFC 281 vital Joshua vs Usyk 2 date: UK start time, location, undercard and how to follow OOPS Tyson Fury flies to Iceland for face-to-face clash with Thor, but he's not there ready Joshua runs through Jeddah streets in 40-degree heat ahead of Usyk rematch Lambo life Inside McGregor's life at sea with Hermes ashtrays, parties and serious gym work demand Benn v Eubank Jr tickets: Release date and time, price and where fans can buy them hero UFC fighter takes down man who tried to attack his family with baseball bat Khan visited Usyk at his gym in Dubai and got an insight into the hard graft being put in by the championInstagram: @amirkingkhanOn the reports he’s put on 15kg, Khan added: “Yeah that’s what he told me. He looked in great shape, he’s a lot bigger, a lot thicker. “You know how some people put on weight and they look a bit soft, but he was solid. He looked strong and put the weight on well. “He says he’s put on 15 kilos since the last fight. Is that going to slow him down? I don’t think so. I’ve seen him shadow boxing, I’ve seen him on the pads, he looked really quick and has great footwork. “He’s a technician, his boxing IQ is the best out there I think… and how accurate he is is what wins him fights.” It’s going to be some fight in JeddahKhan also advised Joshua, who boasts 22 KO victories in his 26 professional fights, to do what he does best. “What AJ has to do is just jump on him early,” Khan said. “AJ’s got that puncher’s chance as well. “When it comes to boxing him; AJ’s a good boxer, he’s an Olympic champion, but Usyk is a superior boxer. “You can’t really beat him when it comes down to tactics, technique or boxing skills… AJ will be making a mistake if he tries to box him again.” Usyk vs Joshua 2 on talkSPORT talkSPORT will be in Jeddah for the Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua rematch on 20 August.
