Volley Bergamo the volleyball team of Italy bagged the 2010 CEV Indesit European Champions league against their rivals played in France last Saturday. Amongst the great performers were Italian Serena Ortolani, and Swede Marcus Nilsson and the legendary Killirova celebrated the CEV honorary award for an excellent career that has spanned more than two decades.

Mrs. Riet Ooms, president of the European cups commission rightly made a statement saying “I think that for the ladies the toughest competition will be coming up in Pool A and D, I expected some hard-fought matches there as the level of the teams is potentially very even. I also think that TRENTINO will have quite a tough job to defend the title they notched a few months ago, to start out against Dinamo and Olympiacos will be quite a good way to test their ambitions and strength”.

On the other hand the Turkish volley ball team made it to the finals to play against the Italian Volley ball team on Sunday, venue being Palais Dess Victoria. Will the Italians take over the Turkish is the question. The referees would be from Russia and Serbia namely Andre Zenovich and Zorica Bjelic. After their title in Perguia, Volley Bergamo topped again the podium of the CEV Indesit Women’s European Champions League by beating Fenerbahce Acibadem Istanbul in a wonderful five set final on Sunday. “After winning the main two trios, we did not focus a 90% anymore,” MVP, Bergamo skipper and international Italian Piccinini Francesca said. “But we didn’t give up when it wasn’t easy to hit back at the fifth trio. It is an overwhelming feeling to provide this club the 7th position in the legendry of Champions Tournament.” Both teams demonstrated their outstanding class in front of more than 4’000 delighted fans and supporters in Cannes’ Palais des Victoiresas hosts Racing Club de Cannes took bronze.

Coach Micelli Lorenzo the coach of the volleyball team said: “There were 3 sets and the fourth one the final one where Istanbul were a little tired after the great semifinals, that is why we initiated with a few winning edge. I asked the players to relax. They portrayed a winning mentality as that of winning I’m 100% sure the spectators watched the best 2 teams at Europe.”

Brandt De Jan, coach of Acibadem Fenerbahce Istanbul, briefed: “They know their game as to how to attack, even when the team has to face ties. That’s why my players felt tired at the end.” This was a fantastic broadcasting for Volleyball. I also feel very happy and proud for the players and also my staff; they have done a good job this weekend. The home team played an excellent defense, and was nearly impossible for us to score such easy points.”

The best players in the volley ball team of Italy are Francesca Piccinini, Antonella Core Del Enrica Merlo and Bianco lo Eleonora. The Italian volleyball team showed a positive attitude on ground with the optimism of winning the title. Each of the players said “I don’t think it is logical to find the logic behind victory or defeat as they have to happen whether we seek logic or not”. The Bergamo was unbeaten till the finals and they are proving to be the strongest team compared to other women’s. Fenerbahace needs a new coach and lots of practice to defeat Bergamo. The team doesn’t lack any sort of mental or physical fitness as they are capable of a clean sweep win over other countries. The Bergamo team keep hitting hard until they smell victory which is their advantage.
