Charles Latuperissa certainly caught the eye with his ring walk theatrics before his fight against Sultan Al Nuaimi in 2019.

The Indonesian fighter’s high-energy dance routine to MC Hammer’s ‘Can’t Touch This’ impressed the Dubai crowd at Caesars Palace.

However, the fight didn’t match the song title as Latuperissa was floored twice and knocked out within the first round.

For Al Nuaimi, everything went to plan as he completed a successful debut in front of his home crowd.

The fledgling super-flyweight will hope to develop and eventually become a legitimate contender in what is a hotly contested division.

Since the win, he has fought four times, winning them all with his last victory coming in September.

However, big-name fighters at 115lbs include Juan Estrada, Roman Gonzalez, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Jerwin Ancajas and Kazuto Ioka.

Clearly Deontay Wilder didn’t pay attention to Latuperissa and decided elaborate ring walks were the way forward.

The heavyweight, who fought a few months after, in February 2020, said he was weighed down by his outfit as he made his way to the ring for his WBC title defence against Tyson Fury back.

He lost and then bizarrely blamed the 40Ibs costume.

“He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is… that my uniform was way too heavy for me.

“I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.”
